In a bid to address the recent tragic attacks in Plateau State, the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has arrived in Jos to meet with stakeholders and the Governor of the state. This comes as the IGP orders the immediate relocation of the Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG) in charge of Zone 4, AIG Ebong Eyibio Ebong, to Plateau State.
The attacks, which took place in the Barkin Ladi, Mangu, and Bokkos Local Government Areas on December 24th, resulted in a significant loss of lives. The IGP’s visit aims to gather firsthand information on the situation, assess the extent of the attacks, and ensure adequate measures are put in place to prevent further loss of lives and properties.
Upon his arrival, IGP Egbetokun and his team held a meeting with Governor Simon Lalong, where they discussed the security challenges facing the state and possible strategies to tackle them. The meeting was also attended by other key stakeholders, including the Commissioner of Police in Plateau State, the State Security Adviser, and traditional rulers.
During the meeting, Governor Lalong expressed his deep concern over the recent attacks and the need for urgent action to restore peace and stability in the affected areas. He lauded the Nigerian Police Force for their swift response and assured them of the state government’s support in addressing the security challenges in Plateau.
IGP Egbetokun assured the governor and stakeholders that the Police Force is committed to ensuring the safety of lives and properties in Plateau State. He emphasized that the perpetrators of the attacks would be apprehended and brought to justice. He also stressed the importance of intelligence gathering and community policing in curbing criminal activities in the state.
The IGP urged residents of Plateau State to remain calm and provide useful information to the police to aid their investigations. He assured them that every effort would be made to restore peace and normalcy in the affected areas.
