Benue State Begins Enrollment for the Renewed Hope Conditional Cash Transfer Program

The Benue State Cash Transfer Unit of the National Cash Transfer office, Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs andqQ Poverty Alleviation has commenced the enrollment process for the Renewed Hope Conditional Cash Transfer Program. This program is part of the National Social Safety Net Project Scale-Up (NASSP-SU) and aims to provide financial relief to vulnerable citizens in the state, aligning with the “Renewed Hope Agenda” of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

According to a statement released by the National Program Manager, Dr Michael Ajuluchuku, over 224,090 households are expected to benefit from the ongoing enrollment. The enrollment process is taking place across twenty-three (23) Local Government Areas (LGAs) of the state.

Dr Ajuluchuku explained that the enrollment aims to target 127,535 beneficiaries from the National Social Register (NSR) and an additional 96,555 beneficiaries from the Rapid Response Register (RRR). The enrollment is currently underway in all the 23 Local Government Areas and in 158 Wards in 2,518 Communities across the State.

Mr Waghbo Terkura Emmanuel, the State Program Manager, urged beneficiaries to provide their National Identification Numbers (NIN) during the enrollment process to meet the eligibility criteria for opening bank accounts, as directed by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN). He also encouraged those who have not yet registered for NIN to do so.

Beneficiaries will receive their payments through their bank accounts. Those who already have existing bank accounts will be paid directly, while new accounts will be opened by the program for those who do not have accounts. This strategy aims to ensure that all beneficiaries are financially included through the program.

Emmanuel stated, “Each beneficiary will receive N25,000 per circle, for three payment circles, culminating in a total financial support of 875,000 Naira. This financial assistance is intended to make a significant impact on the lives of the beneficiaries, contributing to their well-being and resilience in the face of the hardships caused by the current economic reforms in the country.”

To ensure transparency, the state government has made the disclosure list available in various communities. Members of the public are encouraged to visit their communities, access the disclosure list, and check their names for validation and enrollment. In case of any complaints or grievances, individuals can reach out to the Renewed Hope Conditional Cash Transfer office or the local government desk offices for immediate resolution. The program’s national toll-free line, 869 (MTN only), and the state GRM lines, which are displayed in communities, are also available for contact.

The enrollment exercise, which began last week, is expected to last for ten days, providing an opportunity for eligible beneficiaries to enroll and receive the financial support they need.

Overall, the Renewed Hope Conditional Cash Transfer Program in Benue State is poised to provide assistance and hope to vulnerable citizens, alleviating their financial burdens and improving their overall well-being.
