Friday, December 22, 2023 – The Federal Government has declared a series of public holidays to mark the upcoming Christmas and New Year celebrations. As announced by the Honorable Minister of Interior, Dr Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo on behalf of the Federal Government, Monday and Tuesday, December 25 and 26, 2023, as well as Monday, January 1, 2024, have been designated as public holidays.
In addition to this announcement, the Minister took the opportunity to extend his warm regards and felicitate with Christians and all Nigerians both at home and abroad. He urged Christians to embrace the teachings of Jesus Christ, with a focus on humility, service, compassion, and patience.
Dr Tunji-Ojo emphasized the significance of peace and security as crucial elements for the nation’s economic development and overall prosperity. He assured the Nigerian people that the Federal Government, under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, remains committed to implementing effective measures to ensure the safety of lives and property.

He advised individuals to report any suspicious individuals or activities to the nearest security agencies.
