Man Allegedly Takes Own Life After Losing N2.5m To Betting

A tragic incident unfolded on Tuesday as a Facebook user, Onoh Chukwuma, reportedly took his own life after losing N2.5 million to betting. Onoh reportedly ingested an insecticide, leaving his friends and family in shock.

Prior to the incident, Onoh had posted a message on his Facebook wall, indicating that it was his last day on earth and that he was going to meet his maker. Little did anyone know that he had already consumed the insecticide before making the announcement.

In his Facebook post, he expressed gratitude to certain individuals, including Chima Anyaso, Ikukuoma Abia, Kelvin Jombo Onumah, Ekwueme Ohafia, and his friends. He stated, “Today is my last day on earth! I’m going to meet my maker. Thank you all. My spirit is with you.”

After learning of his distress, friends immediately rushed Onoh to Madonna Hospital in Umuahia. Unfortunately, despite the efforts of doctors to revive him, Onoh did not survive.

Reports indicate that Onoh had lost N2.5 million through betting and was unable to bear the shame and pressure from those he had borrowed money from. A friend, who shared the news of his demise, expressed heartbreak over the futile attempts made by medical professionals to save him.

Another Facebook user questioned Onoh’s decision, highlighting that he had N1 million and borrowed N1.5 million to play a failed bet, leading to his tragic end due to the shame from his debtors.

Ibeako Esther Chisom, another Facebook user, wrote a heartfelt message, expressing her sorrow over the loss of Onoh. She mentioned witnessing the doctors and nurses desperately trying to revive him, but ultimately, they were unsuccessful. She concluded with, “Onoh Chukwuma Richard, you really cut down the plans God has for you by taking your life by yourself. Sleep on. I am heartbroken.”

Obika James Abuchi, another user, questioned why Onoh made such a decision, stating, “You had 1 million and borrowed 1.5 million to play a bet, it failed, and because of the shame from your debtors, you took your life? Onoh, who taught you this?”

Condolences and messages of regret have flooded Onoh’s Facebook page as friends and acquaintances express their sadness over the tragic loss.
