Akwa Ibom First Lady Warns Rapists and Paedophiles of Consequences Amid Crackdown on Gender Violence

 

Pastor Patience Umo Eno, the wife of Akwa Ibom State Governor and Chairperson of the State Gender-Based Violence (GBV) Management Committee, has issued a stark warning to rapists, paedophiles, and all individuals involved in gender violence. Speaking at the launch of the 16 Days Activism Against Gender-Based Violence campaign, the Akwa Ibom First Lady vowed to take decisive action against those perpetrating acts of gender violence in the state.

 

During her address in Uyo on Saturday, Mrs. Patience Umo Eno emphasized the urgency of eliminating all forms of gender violence in Akwa Ibom State. She expressed her determination to ensure that the culprits face the full force of the law and emphasized that the era of impunity for gender-based crimes was over.

 

The launch of the 16 Days Activism Against Gender-Based Violence campaign signifies a deliberate effort by the state government to eradicate gender violence and promote gender equality. Running from November 25th to December 10th, the campaign aims to raise awareness, challenge societal norms, and form a united front against gender-based violence.

 

Mrs. Eno made it clear that the government will prioritize the safety and welfare of women and children. She stated, “We will not sit idly while our women and children suffer at the hands of predators. Those who think they can get away with such heinous crimes should be prepared to face the consequences of their actions.”

 

The Akwa Ibom First Lady also urged the public to play an active role in reporting cases of gender violence and supporting survivors. She announced the establishment of a dedicated helpline and promised that the state government would provide the necessary resources to ensure justice for victims and survivors.

 

The cautionary message issued by Mrs. Eno resonated deeply with attendees at the event. Representatives from various women’s rights organizations, civil society groups, and government officials were present, pledging their commitment to the cause.

 

As the state embarks on this determined campaign against gender-based violence, it is expected that strict measures will be put in place to ensure the safety and protection of women and children. Through increased vigilance, stronger law enforcement, and comprehensive support services, it is hoped that Akwa Ibom State will become a safe haven where gender-based violence is eradicated.M

rs. Eno urged the citizens of Akwa Ibom State to stand united against gender violence, stating, “Together, we will create a society where respect, equality, and justice prevail for all.”
