In a shocking turn of events, a 40-year-old hoodlum named Saheed Kareem has been apprehended for his alleged involvement in ambushing a police team during a violent clash that ensued between warring communities in Osun state. The incident, which took place between September 17 and October 4, 2023, resulted in the unfortunate deaths of seven security agents and the dislocation of numerous residents.
According to the charges filed against him, Kareem stands accused of conspiring with others to commit felony, attempted murder, serious assault, as well as attacking innocent residents and causing extensive property damage. The severity of these allegations has led to a total of twelve counts being brought against him, including various offenses related to conspiracy, felony, attempted murder, and serious assault.
During the court hearing, the police prosecutor highlighted the names of several officers who sustained gunshot wounds during the ambush. The gravity of the situation prompted Chief Magistrate Olusegun Ayilara to direct Kareem to present a formal bail application.
