In a shocking turn of events, the Rivers State House of Assembly (RSHA) became the target of suspected political thugs last night, October 29. The assailants allegedly set the assembly complex ablaze in response to an alleged move to impeach the state governor, Siminalayi Fubara, and the Leader of the House, Edison Ehie.
The incident unfolded around 9pm when a group of thugs arrived at the assembly complex in a white Hilux van. Reports indicate that they easily disarmed the security personnel on duty before proceeding to carry out their destructive act. Located on Moscow Road, Port Harcourt, just across the Headquarters of the State Command Police, the assembly complex became a scene of turmoil and chaos.
According to reliable sources, the lawmakers had apparently finalized their plans to impeach Governor Fubara and Leader Ehie during their scheduled sitting on October 30.
