HONOURING Engr. Ogbeide-Ihama by Midwest Herald this week Sunday at the Oriental Hotel, VI Lagos State Nigeria, a man who used his two tenure as federal legislator to promote the indigenous Benin Culture and a visible pilar of traditional African society and its generative and creative artistic splendours, is an honour well deserved.
In 2015, Hon. Omoregie was elected under the platform of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to represent Oredo Federal Constituency at the Federal House of Representatives, Abuja. His legislative interest included youth and women empowerment, power generation and proper management of national resources. He serves as Chairman of House Committee on Culture and Tourism. He was a member of the committees such as; Environment and Habitat Committee; Ports, Harbor and Waterways; Power; Basic Education; Housing; Capital Market; and Public Petition.
In 2019, he was re-elected member of House of Representatives untill his tenure expired three months ago after eventful period of unequalled representative across the country. Honourable Ogbeide’s first-of-its-kind performance index, vis-a-vis his clear thoughts on how to elevate Edo State from a poor civil service state to industrialized state; from infrastructural deficit state to urban renewal hub, with his restorative agenda for a comatose agricultural sector, public transportation services, sports development, healthcare delivery system to job creation and security architecture, the Midwest Herald’s award is another platform to for him to rekindle the hope for the possibility of a New Edo.
In this interview, Engr. Ogbeide-Ihama optimistically told Trojan News Media Correspondent that after receiving countless awards that this one coming from the stable of Midwest Herald is a special one, reflective of his avowed commitment to fixing Nigerian and Edo sociopolitical problems with home made solutions.

So how do you feel about this award and your legacy that made it possible for you to be nominated, and how do you think of sustaining it in the coming Edo State election circle?
A:
*To me I think this is a legitimate award that has humbled me as well. I want to appreciate the management of Midwest Herald for finding me worthy of this award. I’ve had several award but this particular one is very touching because it’s is coming from a medium championed by Honourable Orobosa Omo-Ojo.
He’s a Man that had a strong sense of character, so I’ll like to appreciate him. For me, it’s a challenge and for the first time I’m receiving an award that is properly tailored towards set objectives. Maybe God want to use it to open some more opportunities, somewhere very soon.

Secondly, what is your message to the younger generation particularly the “soro soke” generation who are not aware or do not believe that the current leadership in Nigeria can make a definite difference?
A:
What I think is to remain steadfast, to remain focused, map out your objective, believe in it and set your eyes on it. That’s what I do everytime. I keep talking to them. We can only make the best out of the younger generations when we set a positive pace for them to emulate and I believe I have done so both in the public and private sectors.
