Microblogging platform, Twitter has removed the ability of users to block others in a new update announced by its owner, Elon Musk.
The Tesla CEO in a post on his verified Twitter page said block will now be deleted as a feature except for direct messages.
Elon Musk @elonmusk tweeted:
“Block is going to be deleted as a “feature”, except for DMs”.
This implies that X users may have to endure contents they find repulsive as they won’t have the option of blocking them anymore.
This is part of the changes to Twitter, now renamed X since Elon Musk acquired the platform from its original founders.
The platform had last month rolled out a payment plan for creators as they will now have a share of the ad revenue earned from ads served in the replies to their posts.
This allows users on Twitter Blue, with more than 5 million tweet impressions each month for the last 3 months to earn money from the platform.
The latest removal of the block option was greeted with mixed reactions.
