The Delta State Police Command said on Thursday that it had apprehended a kidnapping suspect and recovered arms and ammunition.
The public relations officer of the command, DSP Bright Edafe, who made this known during a press conference in Warri, said the operation took place on Wednesday.
The police spokesman said the operatives of the command’s Rapid Response Squad (RRS) arrested the suspect at his hideout in Uvwie Local Government Area following credible intelligence.
“A search warrant was executed on his premises, where one English Beretta pistol and 15 rounds of 7.62mm AK-47 ammunition were recovered,” he said.
In another development, DSP Edafe said the command, in a separate operation, arrested a suspected drug peddler in Jeddo Community, Okpe Local Government Area.
The suspect, arrested on Wednesday by operatives of the command attached to the Orerokpe Division, was nabbed during an intensive stop-and-search and visibility patrol on Jeddo Road.
