A Nigerian national, Obinoze Alexander has been arrested for allegedly killing Flora Gold, another Nigerian citizen, in South Delhi, India.
The body of the victim was found wrapped in bedsheets and concealed in a box bed.
40-year-old Alexander was arrested on Friday, April 28, 2023, after the police received a PCR call from a person who reported a foul smell emanating from inside a flat in Maidangarhi.
DCP (South) Chandan Chowdhary has confirmed the arrest and stated that the investigation was ongoing.
The police were working to determine the motive behind the murder and have collected evidence from the crime scene.
Also, the Nigerian High Commission in India has been informed of the incident and was working with the Indian authorities to ensure that justice is served.
DCP Chowdhary said:
“The caller said that a foul smell was coming from a flat on the third floor of the Sriman apartment. The flat has been closed for the last three days.”
Upon arrival at the scene, the police team discovered that the flat was securely locked. A thorough investigation was conducted to ensure the safety of the residents and the surrounding area.
It was determined that the owner of the flat needed to be contacted to provide access to the premises.
With the assistance of a professional key maker, the door was successfully unlocked and the police team was able to enter the flat.
He said:
“The body of a woman was found wrapped in bedsheets in the box of double bed in the right side room of the flat, a 2 BHK.”
On December 2021, the owner of a flat rented it out to Alexander for Rs 12,000.
However, after conducting technical surveillance, it was discovered that the deceased was a Nigerian national and that the suspect was responsible for the crime. The authorities have since arrested him.
Chowdhary said:
“Investigation is ongoing to ascertain the motive and relationship of the accused with the woman.”
