Dapo dapodalapOgun State Ministry of Forestry says it spent N125.2 million on recurrent expenditures within the first three months of 2023 and generated N80.7 million as revenue within the same period.
Commissioner for Forestry, Oludotun Taiwo, disclosed this on Thursday while addressing the Ogun State House of Assembly on the performance of the ministry between January and March 2023.
According to the statement issued by the assembly media, the commissioner said this at the budget performance appraisal held by the House Committee on Agriculture and Forestry and chaired by Hon. Sylvester Abiodun.
The commissioner was quoted as saying that the ministry is working hard to improve its revenue and boost its afforestation programmes.
Oludotun however, assured that the ministry under his watch would embark on the massive plantation of trees in 2023, in line with the budget objectives of the ministry for the fiscal year.
The statement read partly, “Taiwo, who presented the Ministry’s record of performance between January and March 2023, stated that the ministry was working hard on how to improve on its revenue and boost its afforestation programmes.
“The commissioner added that the Ministry had generated over N80.7m within the period under review, while recurrent expenditure for the period stood at N125.2m.”
The Chairman of the Committee enjoined the ministry to improve on its revenue drive without inflicting unnecessary hardship on the people .
Also, the state Forestry Plantation Project, Area-J4 had its budget performance appraised by the state lawmakers.
