EFCC Detained Omotayo, A Director Of Finance In Power Ministry Linked With N1.7b Fraud, 33 Houses, A Permanent Suite In Nicon Luxury Hotel In Abuja

THE Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) has confirmed the detention of Mr Adewumi Joseph Omotayo, a Director of  Finance and Account in the Federal Ministry of Power over financial crime hovering around Two Billion Naira, thirty three luxury homes, and for making payments for contracts that were never executed.

Sources revealed to Hobnob News reports that Mr Omotayo has been in the custody of the EFCC for upwards of ten days on the allegations of financial fraud and for owing multiple houses nationwide numbering over thirty.
Our investigation revealed that Mr Omotayo has been making millions of naira payments into an account for non existing mambila power project.
Mr Omotayo has been found making payment of several millions for construction of nonexistent road to mambila project site, as well as owing a car stand in the name of his wife in Garki area of abuja.
More details have emerged that he is responsible for the payment of various huge sum of money paid into individuals accounts of his cronies.
A routine check from the Ministry of Power shows that Mr Omotayo was posted out from the Ministry several months ago by the office of the Accountant General of the Federation, but vehemently refused to leave the Ministry of Power for fraudulent reasons.
Mr Omotayo allegedly boasted to members of staff of the Ministry that he is a friend of the EFCC because he has been invited on many occasions without detention, a subtle way of saying that he has been buying his way through from the antigraft agency.
When contacted for verification, the EFCC image maker, Mr Wilson Uwujaren confirmed to Hobnob News reports correspondent that Mr Adewumi Joseph Omotayo is in their custody but could not give detail reasons for his arrest. “I’m aware that Mr Adewumi Joseph Omotayo is in our custody but I’m yet to ascertain the reasons for his detention”, Mr Uwujaren said.
Calls put through to the current Minister of Power, Alhaji Abubakar Aliyu were not responded to at the time of filing this report. The former Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Baba Tunde Raji Fashola failed woeful in his empty twitches of fixing electricity problems in six months. Mr Fashola was quoted in 2015 as saying that “any government that cannot fix electricity challenge in six months has no business being in power”.
Items allegedly recovered from Mr Omotayo by the EFCC include tons of golds, millions of naira and other valuables that were acquired through financial crime.
