Daddy Freeze Mocks Nathaniel Bassey Over Alex Ekubo’s Death, Questions Healing Claims

Controversial media personality, Daddy Freeze, has stirred reactions on social media after criticizing popular gospel singer and pastor, Nathaniel Bassey, over remarks he made concerning the late actor, Alex Ekubo.
The criticism followed Nathaniel Bassey’s narration during a service of songs held in honour of the deceased actor last week. According to Bassey, a pastor friend had invited him to visit and minister to Alex Ekubo while he was hospitalized.
The gospel minister explained that plans had been made to visit and pray for the actor on a Tuesday, but Alex reportedly passed away a day earlier, on Monday. Despite the unfortunate development, Bassey said he honoured the arrangement by visiting the family on the scheduled date to pray and offer support.
Reacting during an Instagram Live session over the weekend, Daddy Freeze questioned why Nathaniel Bassey did not perform a miracle or raise the actor from the dead, considering the numerous testimonies of healing and divine intervention often associated with his ministry.
According to Freeze, the situation presented an opportunity for the pastor to demonstrate the power of God through resurrection.
“So we’re sitting down minding our business, and Nathaniel Bassey climbed the pulpit, then he blows the trumpet. Ok, you can signify the trumpet in Revelation, linking it with the end of the world; it was the end of Alex’s world, may his soul rest in peace,” Freeze said.
He continued: “But then he starts talking and says he has never met Alex before, but a pastor friend said they should go and pray for Alex and sing for him. They wanted to go on Tuesday, but Alex died on Monday. Then they still went on Tuesday and sang and prayed.
“And I’m like, really? What happened to all your miracles, healing and resurrection claims that you post on your platforms? I would have thought this was an opportunity to show your God’s glory.”
Daddy Freeze’s comments have since generated mixed reactions online, with some social media users supporting his criticism, while others accused him of mocking a solemn occasion and disrespecting the deceased and his grieving family.
Neither Nathaniel Bassey nor his representatives had publicly responded to Freeze’s remarks as of the time of filing this report.
The late Alex Ekubo, whose passing shocked many fans and colleagues in the entertainment industry, continues to be remembered through tributes and memorial events celebrating his life and contributions to Nollywood.
