Former Jigawa State Governor, Sule Lamido, has reignited his long-standing feud with former Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, while also addressing criticism over his continued stay in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and ongoing corruption charges.
Speaking during an interview with DCL Hausa on Saturday, Lamido revisited past political tensions, recalling how Malami, during his tenure as Minister of Justice, allegedly initiated legal battles against him. He described the move as politically motivated, insisting that the actions taken against him were driven more by personal and political interests than by the pursuit of justice.
The former governor also used the opportunity to defend his loyalty to the PDP despite mounting criticism from some quarters. According to him, his continued membership in the party is rooted in principle and long-standing commitment, dismissing suggestions that he should defect to another political platform.
Addressing the corruption allegations against him, Lamido maintained his innocence, stating that he remains confident that the judicial process will ultimately vindicate him. He reiterated his belief in the rule of law and expressed readiness to face any legal scrutiny.
The renewed exchange between the two political figures is expected to further stir conversations within Nigeria’s political space, especially as debates over accountability, party loyalty, and past administrations continue to shape public discourse.
