2027: Fayemi Rejects ‘Kangaroo’ Endorsement of N’Assembly Aspirants

Former Ekiti State governor, Kayode Fayemi, has dismissed the alleged endorsement of National Assembly aspirants ahead of the 2027 elections, describing it as invalid.

Speaking in Isan-Ekiti while meeting with party stakeholders, Fayemi warned that such actions could deepen divisions within the All Progressives Congress in the state. He criticised certain individuals within government circles, calling them opportunists who are causing disunity in the party.

While he acknowledged that consensus can be used to pick candidates if all aspirants agree, Fayemi stressed that primary elections remain necessary where there is no agreement.

He also urged current lawmakers seeking re-election to present their achievements to voters rather than rely on endorsements. According to him, any serious aspirant must be prepared to contest in a fair primary.

Fayemi emphasised the importance of adhering to party rules and the Electoral Act to prevent disputes and legal battles after the primaries, insisting that the party structure should not be hijacked by a few individuals.
