The Governor of Edo State, Monday Okpebholo, on Monday reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to creating a favourable environment for investors as he performed the groundbreaking ceremony for a 100-megawatt power generation plant and a 300-metric-ton-per-day LNG facility.
The project, located at Taihu Industrial Park in Ologbo, Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Area, is expected to support industrial growth, create jobs, and drive sustainable economic development in the state.
Okpebholo said the facility, which is projected to become operational within six months, demonstrates the increasing confidence investors have in Edo State and the government’s dedication to strengthening energy security and industrialisation. According to him, his administration prioritises investment and development, noting that the state provided land for the project free of charge while ensuring that all processes follow legal guidelines.
The governor also pointed out that Bola Ahmed Tinubu recognises electricity as the backbone of industrialisation, adding that Edo State intends to leverage the new power project to boost manufacturing and economic expansion.
Chairman of Ikpoba-Okha Local Government, Eric Osawaru, described the initiative as a landmark achievement for both the host community and Nigeria’s energy sector. Meanwhile, the state Commissioner for Power, Paul Usebor, said the project would strengthen Edo’s ambition to become a hub for reliable electricity and industrial development.
Okpebholo also urged residents of the host community to extend Edo’s traditional hospitality to investors, assuring them that the government would safeguard their investments and maintain a supportive business environment.
