Governor Soludo Standardises Traffic Fines at ₦10,000, Disbands Illegal Taskforces Across Anambra

Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo has ordered the suspension of arbitrary traffic fines in Anambra State and approved a uniform ₦10,000 penalty for traffic violations. The directive was announced on October 13, 2025, at Chuba Ikpeazu Stadium in Onitsha during a rally organised by transportation stakeholders, according to The Bureau News.

The Governor declared the dissolution of all unauthorised taskforces previously enforcing traffic levies, stating that a properly constituted and transparent enforcement body would soon be established. He emphasised that transport operators are key partners in driving Anambra’s economic growth.

Leaders of road transport unions at the gathering expressed relief, noting that the decision would help end extortion by illegal agents, improve compliance, and restore trust in the system.

During his visit to Onitsha, where he also inspected ongoing infrastructure projects, Soludo reaffirmed his commitment to expanding road development and ensuring orderliness across the state.

Key Points:
• Traffic fines standardised at ₦10,000 statewide.
• Unauthorised traffic taskforces disbanded.
• New lawful enforcement unit to be established.
• Policy aims to reduce extortion and improve commercial activity.
