Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, has approved the immediate dissolution of the Rivers State Pensions Board, directing that its functions be temporarily overseen by the Office of the State Accountant-General.
The directive was contained in a statement issued on Friday in Port Harcourt by the Head of Service, Dr. Inyingi Brown.
According to the statement, members of the dissolved board are to hand over all properties and assets in their possession to the Director of Administration of the board without delay.
“The Executive Governor of Rivers State, His Excellency, Sir Siminalayi Fubara GSSRS, has approved the immediate dissolution of the Rivers State Pensions Board. Consequently, the Office of the Accountant-General of Rivers State will henceforth handle the functions of the board,” the statement read.
The governor noted that a new board would be constituted in due course to manage pension affairs in the state.
This marks Governor Fubara’s first major policy decision since his reinstatement by President Bola Tinubu on September 18.
