Addressing newsmen, yesterday, in his office, the Vice Chancellor of the university, Prof. Ladan Aliero, who spoke through the Deputy Vice-Chancellor in charge of research and renovations, Prof. Sa’adu Birnin Yauri, said the FM radio station was established last year by students of electric and electronic technology engineering department with the effort to streamline their academic performance and intelligence.
He added that the newly established radio station was tested, operated for more than a month, and was suspended because it had not been licensed by the Nigeria Broadcasting Cooperation (NBC).
He assured students that management is working hard to meet up with NBC requirements to resume operations fully. He added that by the time the FM station is fully operational, it would boost the revenue profile of the institution, and help increase awareness in terms of information dissemination.
The DVC, who also gave the scorecard of the institution, explain that the radio station will be upgraded to serve nearby communities and bring more commercial benefits to the school.
