Adibe Urges Obi to Exercise Caution in Approaching ADC Coalition Ahead of 2027

A professor of Political Science, Jideofor Adibe, has advised the Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, to tread carefully in his dealings with the African Democratic Congress (ADC) coalition as he prepares for the 2027 general elections.

Adibe gave the counsel on Tuesday during an appearance on Channels Television’s The Morning Brief, cautioning that political alignments ahead of the next elections could be complex and laden with hidden interests.

His remarks come just a day after the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) announced that its 2027 presidential ticket would be zoned to the South, a move that has already begun reshaping political permutations within opposition ranks.

The professor noted that while coalition-building remains a critical strategy for any serious contender, Obi must ensure that any partnership with the ADC or similar groups aligns with his political ideology and long-term goals.

Observers say the development highlights the growing intensity of Nigeria’s 2027 electioneering, as opposition parties weigh alliances and strategic moves to challenge the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
