Fake Doctor Arrested in Akwa Ibom for Alleged Illegal Abortion and Murder

The Akwa Ibom Police Command has apprehended a fake medical practitioner, Sunday Okon Akpan, owner of Full Life Medical Centre in Ikot Obio Odong village, Ibesikpo Asutan, for allegedly performing an illegal abortion that resulted in the death of a woman. According to DSP Timfon John, the command’s Public Relations Officer, the arrest was made following a report from a woman whose daughter, Blessing Sunday Etim, had gone to work at the medical centre but failed to return.

Upon investigation, detectives discovered a premature foetus exiting the victim’s private part, suggesting a botched abortion. Further probe revealed that Akpan, a community health practitioner, posed as a licensed medical doctor and allegedly used his facility to perform illegal medical services and abortions.

*Key Details of the Case:*

– *Victim:* Blessing Sunday Etim, a young woman who died from a suspected illegal abortion
– *Suspect:* Sunday Okon Akpan, owner of Full Life Medical Centre, who allegedly performed the abortion despite not being a licensed medical doctor or nurse

The police command has assured the public that the investigation will be thorough, and justice will be served. This incident highlights the risks associated with fake medical practitioners and the importance of verifying the qualifications of healthcare providers.
