American music magazine, Billboard, has unveiled its list of the Top 50 Best Afrobeats Songs of All Time, with Nigerian icon 2Face Idibia’s timeless hit African Queen clinching the number one spot.
The curated list, compiled by Billboard staff, celebrates the biggest records that have shaped Afrobeats globally.
Wizkid emerged as the standout artist in the top 10, earning two entries with Ojuelegba at number 2 and the Grammy-nominated smash Essence (featuring Tems) at number 5.
Nigerian artists dominate the top slots, with Flavour’s Nwa Baby (Ashawo Remix) at number 3, Rema’s global hit Calm Down at number 4, and CKay’s Love Nwantiti, D’banj’s Oliver Twist, Davido’s Fall, Burna Boy’s Ye, and P-Square’s Chop My Money Remix (featuring Akon) rounding out the top 10.
Despite Nigeria’s dominance, Ghana also secured representation in the top 20. Fuse ODG’s Azonto (featuring Itz Tiffany) and Sarkodie’s Adonai (featuring the late Castro) ranked at 18 and 19, respectively.
Beyond the top 10, Olufunmi by Styl-Plus landed at number 11, followed by 9ice’s Gongo Aso at 12, P-Square’s Do Me at 13, and Davido’s Dami Duro at 14.
Yemi Alade emerged as the highest-ranked female lead artist on the chart with her 2014 anthem Johnny, securing the 15th spot.
Other notable inclusions in the top 20 are Wande Coal’s Bumper to Bumper (17) and Phyno’s Fada Fada featuring Olamide (20).
The full list, according to Billboard, reflects the genre’s evolution from its early pioneers to its present-day global ambassadors, solidifying Afrobeats as one of the most influential music movements worldwide.
