The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has dismissed as false and misleading reports circulating on social media alleging that Corps Member Ushie Rita Uguamaye, with State Code number LA/24B/8325, was denied her Certificate of National Service (CNS) over criticisms of the government.
In a statement issued by its management, the NYSC clarified that Rita is one of 131 Corps Members whose certificates were withheld for valid disciplinary reasons. The scheme explained that her service year was extended by two months for failing to attend the April 2025 biometrics clearance, in line with NYSC Bye-Laws.
“This extension is a standard procedure and not peculiar to her case. The principle of equal treatment was applied, and the decision is devoid of any political undertone,” the statement read.
The NYSC urged the public to avoid politicizing routine disciplinary measures, stressing that extending service for non-compliance has been a long-standing practice within the scheme.
“The NYSC Scheme remains committed to discharging its mandate in line with the dictates of the constitution. Nigeria is ours; Nigeria we serve,” the statement concluded.
