Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has announced a further relaxation of the curfew imposed on the previously volatile communities of Ifon, Ilobu, and Erin, following significant progress in peace restoration efforts.
According to a statement released on Saturday by the state’s Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Kolapo Alimi, the curfew hours will now run from 12:00 midnight to 4:00 a.m. daily, effective Saturday, July 19, 2025.
The move comes after a series of phased reductions in curfew hours—from an initial 24-hour lockdown to 9:00 p.m.–6:00 a.m.—aimed at balancing security concerns with the needs of residents, including school activities and the Sallah festivities.
Governor Adeleke, who serves as the Chief Security Officer of the state, expressed satisfaction over the return of relative calm to the affected areas and extended gratitude to traditional rulers and community stakeholders for their roles in fostering reconciliation.
“I deeply appreciate the efforts of the Olufon, Olobu, Elerin, and other community leaders who have contributed to restoring peace. Your continued cooperation is vital,” the governor said.
He also urged the 100-member Boundary Resolution Committee tasked with resolving territorial disputes among the three communities to expedite their work for a lasting solution.
The state government reiterated its commitment to maintaining security, promoting dialogue, and ensuring peaceful coexistence among all communities in Osun State.
