President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has described his longtime ally and political associate, Alhaji Tanko Yakasai, as the “conscience of Nigeria”, lauding his unwavering dedication to national unity and progress.
The President made the remarks on Friday during a condolence visit to the family of the late renowned businessman and industrialist, Alhaji Aminu Dantata, in Kano State. Dantata passed away in June in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, and was laid to rest in the Islamic holy city of Madinah.
Speaking at the gathering, Tinubu expressed deep admiration for Yakasai, whom he referred to as both a personal mentor and a national symbol of integrity.
“Our father and friend, Alhaji Tanko Yakasai, thank you, sir,” Tinubu said. “You are an elder, leader of a national movement, and the conscience of our country.”
According to Hobnob News, the President also used the occasion to pay glowing tribute to the late Dantata, describing him as an exceptional philanthropist and pillar of the northern business community.
“Dantata was a man of great heart, always seen in the marketplace giving food to the hungry,” Tinubu remarked. “His legacy of generosity and commitment to humanity will never be forgotten.”
The President’s visit drew dignitaries from across the state, including community leaders, business associates, and clerics, who gathered to honor the memory of the late Dantata and acknowledge the contributions of Tanko Yakasai to the Nigerian nation.
The condolence visit marked yet another demonstration of President Tinubu’s respect for northern elders and key figures who have played pivotal roles in shaping the political and economic direction of the country.
