Just hours after the announcement of the passing of former President Muhammadu Buhari, mourners have begun to gather at his residence in Daura, Katsina State, to pay their final respects.
The former president, who died in a London hospital earlier today, is expected to be buried in his hometown of Daura, according to a close family source who spoke with Hobnob News under anonymity.
The source said, “Yes, the late president will be laid to rest in Daura. But please call me later for full confirmation as plans are still being finalised.”
Although it remains unclear which family members are currently receiving visitors, Buhari’s private residence in Daura has seen a steady stream of sympathisers from within and outside the town, offering prayers and expressing condolences.
In Katsina metropolis, a somber atmosphere was observed across major locations including Shagari Low Cost, KSTA, and Layafa Palace, where groups of residents gathered in silent reflection, many emotionally recalling the life and legacy of the late statesman.
The Katsina State Government, alongside religious and community leaders, has continued to offer prayers for the repose of Buhari’s soul and strength for his family during this difficult time.
Further details regarding the funeral rites are expected to be formally announced by the family in accordance with Islamic traditions.
