Immediate past Governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello, has distanced himself from campaign posters promoting him as a contender for the National Chairmanship of the All Progressives Congress (APC), recently spotted across the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
In a statement issued on Thursday by the Director of the Yahaya Bello Media Office, Michael Ohiare, from Lokoja, the posters were described as the handiwork of “mischief makers” with a persistent agenda to tarnish Bello’s reputation.
“They (the mischief makers) are at it again, having failed on many fronts in their desperate ‘bring-him-down-at-all-costs’ mission,” Ohiare stated, expressing surprise at media reports suggesting the former governor was actively pursuing the party’s top office.
Ohiare emphasized that Yahaya Bello remains a loyal and dedicated member of the APC with unwavering support for the leadership of President Bola Tinubu. He further clarified that Bello neither commissioned nor authorised any individual or group to print or circulate such posters.
“As a committed party man, his support for President Bola Tinubu’s leadership has never been in doubt,” he added. “Since this is not the first time mischief makers have printed posters in his name, silence is no longer an option.”
The statement firmly urged the public to disregard the posters, warning that such acts were deliberate attempts to embarrass the former governor and create confusion within the party.
“Nothing of the sort could come from Bello, particularly when party procedures remain firmly in place,” Ohiare concluded.
No official comment has been made by the APC National Secretariat as of the time of this report. The
