Just hours before President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s scheduled visit to Benue State, the Makurdi–Lafia–Abuja highway has become impassable due to severe flooding, raising concerns over security and logistics.
Hobnob News reports that intense floodwaters have overtaken key portions of the road, stranding motorists and passengers along the route. The affected highway serves as a vital entry point into Makurdi, and the disruption has forced many travellers to delay their journeys or seek shelter in safer locations.
The timing of the flood has heightened anxiety, as it coincides with preparations for the President’s one-day visit to commiserate with the people of Benue following the recent massacre in Yelewata.
Security agencies and government officials are now scrambling to reassess travel routes and ensure that the President’s visit can proceed smoothly despite the unexpected setback.
