A major service disruption affecting one of Nigeria’s leading telecommunications companies has plunged parts of Kebbi, Sokoto, and Zamfara states into a communications blackout, leaving thousands of residents without access to mobile networks and internet services since Thursday evening.
Hobnob News Nigeria can confirm that several communities in Birnin Kebbi, the capital of Kebbi State, are currently experiencing a complete network outage. The blackout has disrupted everyday life, with many residents unable to make phone calls, browse the internet, or carry out online transactions.
“There’s no service since last night. Calls are not going through, and we can’t do any online transactions,” said Jafar Hamid, a resident of Birnin Kebbi. “It’s a frustrating experience.”
The impact of the outage extends beyond individual inconvenience. Students and business owners are also bearing the brunt of the disruption. Aminu, a student at Usmanu Danfodiyo University in Sokoto, recounted how the network failure affected campus life.
“One student couldn’t go home last night because he couldn’t transfer money due to the blackout. He had to sleep in class,” Aminu said.
Reports gathered by Hobnob News Nigeria reveal that the outage is not isolated to Kebbi State. Multiple residents from Sokoto and Zamfara confirmed experiencing the same network issues.
Mujahid Aliyu Morai, a native of Morai in Zamfara State, voiced his concerns over the silence from the telecom provider. “This is not just in Kebbi; we are affected here too,” he said. “No official explanation has been given.”
As of the time of this report, the affected telecommunications company has yet to issue a public statement or timeline for service restoration.
Hobnob News Nigeria will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as more information becomes available.
