Akure, Ondo State: A somber case unfolded in an Akure Magistrate Court as two men, Adebowale Adegboye and Idowu Akinseye, were remanded in prison following allegations of raping a 10-year-old girl. Adegboye, the victim’s father, and Akinseye, her stepfather, stand accused of separate instances of carnal knowledge of the child within Akure.
The arrests were made by the Ondo State Police Command. Both men were formally charged with a five-count indictment encompassing incest, abortion, and indecent assault. Additionally, a medical doctor faces a charge related to the alleged abortion.
Court documents obtained by Hobnob News detail the accusations. Adegboye is alleged to have committed incest and unlawful carnal knowledge of his biological daughter in December 2024. Furthermore, Adegboye, along with Ayoola Ogunkolade and Israel Oluwafemi Ojo, are accused of conspiring to procure an abortion for the victim in January 2025.
Akinseye faces charges of indecently dealing with his stepdaughter in 2019 by allegedly caressing her and inserting his finger into her vagina without consent, followed by an act of unlawful carnal knowledge.
The fifth charge against Adegboye and the doctor pertains to the alleged unlawful procurement of an abortion for the young girl.
Presiding Magistrate Mrs. Grace Alphonso delivered the ruling, ordering the defendants to be held in a correctional facility while awaiting legal counsel from the state’s Director of Public Prosecution. The case has been adjourned until May 22, 2025, for further proceedings.
