NDDC Managing Director’s Adviser, Akari Loveday, Kidnapped in Bayelsa

Mr. Akari Loveday, Special Adviser on Domestic Affairs to the Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), has been kidnapped. The incident occurred on Friday along the river on the way to Ayakoro community, in Ogbia Local Government Area of Bayelsa State, which is the hometown of the NDDC Managing Director, Dr. Samuel Ogbuku.

According to a source from the local government area, the kidnappers intercepted the boat conveying Akari and others, pulled him into their own boat, and attempted to escape. However, their engine stalled, forcing them to paddle to the riverbank and flee into the bush with the victim.

Security agents, including police officers, have launched a search operation in the area. The source reported a heavy police presence on the road to Otuoke, with officers conducting stop-and-search operations.

When contacted for confirmation, the spokesman of the Bayelsa State Police Command, Mr. Musa Mohammed, stated that he was not aware of the incident.
