Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has unveiled a free transportation initiative for residents through the state-owned Edo City Transport Service (ECTS). This program is part of his administration’s policy drive, “A New Edo Has Risen.”
In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Fred Itua, the governor emphasized that the scheme aims to improve the welfare of Edo residents and alleviate transportation challenges across the state.
“The free bus service, which spans Benin metropolis and all three Senatorial districts of Edo State, covers both intra-city and inter-city routes. It will significantly ease transportation burdens, enabling our people to travel within the state without financial constraints,” the statement read.
The initiative includes routes across Edo Central, covering towns such as Ekpoma, Iruekpen, Irrua, and Uromi, as well as Edo North, including Agbede, Auchi, Okpella, and Fugar.
Governor Okpebholo’s commitment to the welfare of Edo residents reflects his administration’s vision of fostering a people-centered government. The free transportation scheme is expected to bring immediate relief to residents and boost economic activities across the state.
