The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has announced the recovery of 2,760kg of illicit consignments in a Lagos shrine. The consignments were recovered on Friday during a raid on the Igbo – Igunuko shrine, located at the Alfa Beach, Ajah, by NDLEA operatives.
According to a statement by NDLEA’s Director, Media & Advocacy, Femi Babafemi, two suspects, Gbenga Abiodun and Sunday Abiodun, were arrested in connection with the illicit consignments. The statement also mentioned the arrest of Ademola Oyelakin with 770kg of a strain of cannabis along the Lagos-Ibadan expressway.
Furthermore, the anti-narcotic agency seized 11,786 pills of tramadol, molly, rohypnol, and diazepam, as well as 64 bottles of codeine syrup from a suspect named Muhammad Warnos Abdullahi, who had hidden the substances in an underground storage in his bedroom at Marwa Coastal Road, Lekki Phase 1, Lagos.
In addition to the operations in Lagos, NDLEA carried out arrests in Plateau State, where Fadan Bindom was caught with 65.85kg of cannabis and 18 grams of tramadol, and in Jos South LGA where Sunday Agbata was found with 5,830 tablets and ampoules of various drugs.
Other arrests were made in FCT Abuja, Edo State, and Osun State, with suspects like Umar Muhammed, Austin Oruamen, and Adereti Kazeem being apprehended for possession and distribution of illicit drugs.
The NDLEA continues to crack down on drug trafficking and distribution across the country, urging the public to report any suspicious activities related to drug-related crimes.
