Nigeria’s Super Eagles Back Home, Land In Kano After Libyan Nightmare

Nigeria’s Super Eagles have safely returned home, landing in Kano after a harrowing experience in Libya. The team’s chartered aircraft was initially refused permission to fly out of Libya, but after a tense standoff, they were finally granted clearance.

The Super Eagles were scheduled to play against Libya’s Mediterranean Knights in a 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match, but the players refused to honor the game after being subjected to inhumane treatment by Libyan authorities. The team was held at the Al-Abraq Airport for hours, denied food, water, and accommodation, and even refused aviation fuel.

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) stood firm, refusing to bow to pressure from Libyan authorities to proceed with the match . The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has condemned the incident and referred it to the disciplinary committee.

The Super Eagles’ safe return is a welcome relief for Nigerian football fans, who were anxiously waiting for news of their team’s well-being.
