Labour Party Chairman, Julius Abure, has hailed the Federal High Court’s ruling affirming his leadership as “a triumph for justice and democracy.” The court’s verdict, delivered by Justice Emeka Nwite, validated Abure’s chairmanship and the March 2024 Nnewi convention that produced the national leadership.
“This victory is not just mine, but a victory for justice and democracy,” Abure said, expressing gratitude and forgiveness. He extended appreciation to the judiciary, particularly Justice Nwite, for upholding justice.
Abure also announced his decision to forgive those who attempted to undermine the party and engaged in character assassination. “With collective efforts, we will continue to work for a Labour Party that truly represents the hopes and aspirations of every Nigerian,” he emphasized.
The Labour Party chairman urged Peter Obi, the party’s presidential candidate in the 2023 election, to help unite the party. Abure reaffirmed the party’s commitment to fighting for the common man and Nigeria’s betterment.
The Federal High Court’s ruling overturned INEC’s earlier stance that Abure’s leadership was invalid. The court ordered INEC to recognize Abure as the legitimate chairman. This verdict brings clarity to the party’s leadership structure.
