The Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) has called on President Bola Tinubu to take decisive action against states that have failed to conduct credible local government elections.
SERAP is advocating for democratic accountability and transparency in fund allocation, urging Tinubu to direct Minister of Finance Olawale Edun to withhold allocations to non-compliant states until they conduct credible polls.
According to SERAP, only democratically elected local government councils should receive Federation Account allocations, excluding other bodies or institutions.
