Labour Party Brands Kenneth Okonkwo a Mole After Resignation

The Labour Party has described Kenneth Okonkwo, its former spokesman, as a mole within the party’s ranks. This comes after Okonkwo announced his resignation on Sunday, citing internal strife and leadership crisis.

In a statement, National Publicity Secretary Obiora Ifoh said Okonkwo’s departure was not surprising, given his history as a former APC member who joined the Labour Party’s presidential campaign. Ifoh criticized Okonkwo’s attack on Peter Obi, the party’s leader, as “needless and unfortunate.”

The party alleged that Okonkwo’s resignation follows a pattern of defections to the APC, citing similar moves by former officials Doyin Okupe and an ex-deputy Director General of the presidential campaign organisation.

Despite the internal challenges, the Labour Party reaffirmed its support for Peter Obi as its leader and presidential hopeful for the 2027 election. Ifoh expressed confidence in Obi’s ability to inspire trust among Nigerians, particularly the youth, and promised that the party would continue to work towards a “new Nigeria” with him at the helm.
