President Tinubu has decided to retract Ruby Onwudiwe’s nomination for the CBN Board following objections raised by key APC members regarding her allegiance to Peter Obi in the 2023 presidential race, as reported by WesternPost.
During a meeting last night with Senate President Akpabio and other senators, Senators Opeyemi Bamidele and Solomon Adeola highlighted the inappropriate nature of Onwudiwe’s nomination to President Tinubu.
Prior to this, several prominent APC supporters had expressed strong dissatisfaction to government officials regarding the irregularity of appointing an opposition figure to such a crucial position within the apex bank.
President Tinubu is now expected to announce a replacement nominee from the South East region.
