Geometric Power Plant Proponent, Barth Nnaji Reveal Why He Resigned As Minister Of Power

Barth Nnaji, the proponent of the Geometric Power in Aba, has given reasons why he resigned as Minister of Power during the Jonathan administration.

Nnaji while speaking on BBC Igbo, clarified that his departure was prompted by disagreements in the privatization process, where he insisted on demanding both technical expertise and financial independence from DISCOS.

He said while he was confronted with pressure to change his stance, he made the decision to resign to avoid potential harm.

Nnaji regretted that after leaving as many DISCOS, lacking technical know-how, collapsed after his departure, resulting in banks taking over assets.

When asked about bribery, he chuckled, underscoring his substantial investment in Geometrics.

Nnaji revealed that Geometric Power, delayed by court battles, would supply electricity directly to Aba and nine other local governments in Abia state, circumventing the national grid.
