Uzodinma Nwafor Declared Winner of Etche Local Government Chairmanship Election

In a significant development in Rivers State politics, Uzodinma Nwafor of the Action Alliance (AA) has been declared the winner of the chairmanship election held on October 5 in Etche Local Government Area. The announcement was made by the Rivers State Independent National Electoral Commission (RSIEC) in Port Harcourt, with RSIEC Chairman Adolphus Enebeli confirming Nwafor’s victory.

The Action Alliance also secured all 19 councillorship seats in the local government, demonstrating a strong showing for the party in the region. This outcome is notable, especially considering the All Progressives Party (APP) secured 22 out of 23 chairmanship seats in Rivers State.

Nwafor’s win has been met with congratulations from various quarters, with many acknowledging the free and fair nature of the election. The RSIEC’s handling of the polls has been praised, despite reports of explosions and gunshots in some parts of the state.

Etche Local Government Area, with a population of over 359,500 people, is one of the 23 LGAs in Rivers State . The area is known for its agricultural produce, including cassava, rubber, and oil palm.

The outcome of this election highlights the diversity of political representation in Rivers State, with various parties making their mark in different local government areas.
