Microsoft and Data Science Nigeria (DSN) have partnered to promote artificial intelligence (AI) capacity development among non-profit organizations. The inaugural AI for Non-Profit Organizations and Social Good Summit, held at Microsoft’s Lagos office, aimed to leverage AI for social impact.
DSN CEO Dr. Bayo Adekanmbi emphasized the importance of AI capacity development, stating that the collaboration with Microsoft will equip Nigerian non-profits to create inclusive AI applications, addressing critical issues in health, finance, agriculture, and education.
The summit gathered leaders from various sectors and NGOs to learn and network collaboratively. AI offers immense potential for non-profits to scale their social impact interventions, and the summit showcased its potential to enhance efficiency, scale impact, and address socio-economic challenges in low-resourced countries like Nigeria.
Microsoft’s Sub-Saharan Africa Philanthropies Lead, Winnie Karanu, reaffirmed the company’s commitment to driving AI transformation in the sector, emphasizing the importance of ethical AI development. The event featured a panel discussion moderated by Adekanmbi, focusing on the role of AI in social good and sharing practical examples.
