No fewer than 27 fishermen were reportedly killed and three others abducted by the Boko Haram terrorist group, Jamā’at Ahl as-Sunnah, Lid-Da’wah wa’l-Jihād, along the Cameroon-Nigeria border.
The terrorists, believed to be from the Buduma faction of Abou Ummaymah, attacked a local fishing community at Island Kofiya near Darak, Cameroon, where many Nigerian fishermen were based.
The victims were tied up and slaughtered, with three others abducted on suspicion of spying for the ISWAP faction.
Their bodies were later discovered during a search and rescue operation conducted by troops and fellow fishermen.
