The Executive Secretary of the National Institute for Cultural Orientation, Biodun Ajiboye, on Saturday criticised a journalist from Arise News, suggesting that she appeared unaware of developments regarding the achievements of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.
Ajiboye made the remark during an interview when he was asked to highlight specific socio-economic indices that the President had improved since assuming office.
The journalist had requested details on measurable progress made by the administration, particularly in terms of economic data and key performance indicators. In response, Ajiboye questioned the premise of the inquiry, stating that it reflected a lack of awareness of ongoing government efforts and outcomes.
He maintained that the Tinubu administration had recorded notable progress across several sectors, although he did not immediately provide detailed statistical data during the exchange.
The interview has since sparked discussions among political observers and the public, with some calling for clearer communication of government achievements using verifiable data, while others defended Ajiboye’s position, arguing that visible reforms and policy measures are already yielding results.
The Tinubu administration has consistently stated that its economic reforms are aimed at stabilising the economy and laying the foundation for long-term growth, even as Nigerians continue to debate their immediate impact on living conditions.
As of the time of filing this report, Arise News had not issued any official response to the remarks.
