President Masoud Pezeshkian of Iran has announced the end of the 12-day war with Israel, marking a significant de-escalation in the most intense conflict between the two nations in recent years.
In a televised address to the nation, broadcast via the official IRNA news agency, Pezeshkian declared the cessation of hostilities, crediting what he called the “heroic resistance” of the Iranian people.
“Today, after the heroic resistance of our great nation, whose determination makes history, we are witnessing the establishment of a truce and the ending of this 12-day war imposed by the adventurism and provocation of Israel,” the president stated.
The announcement follows closely on the heels of a ceasefire plan revealed by U.S. President Donald Trump on Monday night. The plan, which reportedly involved high-level diplomatic negotiations between Washington, Tel Aviv, and Tehran, laid the groundwork for Tuesday’s truce declaration.
Further details of the ceasefire agreement have not yet been disclosed, but early reports suggest both sides have agreed to a cessation of missile attacks and cross-border strikes, while negotiations on long-term security arrangements are expected to continue under international supervision.
