President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is scheduled to address the nation at 7:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 12, as part of the official events marking the 2025 Democracy Day celebration.
This was made known in a statement released on Wednesday by Abdulhakeem Adeoye, speaking on behalf of the Director of Information and Public Relations of the Inter-Ministerial Committee on Democracy Day.
According to the statement, President Tinubu will also appear before a joint session of the National Assembly at 12 noon the same day. The session is expected to highlight the administration’s efforts toward democratic consolidation and national development.
“There will be no Democracy Day parade,” the statement clarified, noting a shift in the usual celebratory format.
In lieu of the traditional parade, a public lecture will be held at the State House Conference Centre in Abuja at 4:00 p.m. The event will focus on the theme: “Consolidating on the Gains of Nigeria’s Democracy: Necessity of Enduring Reforms.”
Democracy Day, commemorated annually on June 12, marks Nigeria’s transition from military to civilian rule and serves as a day of reflection on the country’s democratic journey.
