The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt.-Gen. Olufemi Oluyede, has charged Nigerian troops to deal decisively with all forms of security threats confronting the nation, reaffirming the Nigerian Army’s unwavering commitment to defending the country’s territorial integrity.
According to Hobnob News Nigeria, Oluyede issued the directive during the Eid-el-Adha lunch with troops at the Forward Operation Base (FOB) of Sub-sector 6 under Operation Fansan Yanma in Fatika, Giwa Local Government Area of Kaduna State. The event was reported by the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).
Represented by the Chief of Logistics, Nigerian Army, Maj.-Gen. Erema Akerejola, Oluyede lauded the troops for their bravery, loyalty, and resilience, commending their ultimate sacrifices in the pursuit of national unity, peace, and stability.
“Our troops have demonstrated uncommon courage, unshakable loyalty, and an unyielding spirit in the face of grave danger,” Oluyede said. “Their commitment has brought about significant victories and restored relative peace in many parts of the country.”
He acknowledged the physical and emotional toll on many soldiers, some of whom bear the scars of battle, while others continue to share stories of sacrifice made in the line of duty. He prayed for the souls of fallen heroes and assured their families that their bravery and sacrifice will never be forgotten.
The Army Chief emphasized the symbolic importance of Eid-El-Kabir, describing it as a festival that reinforces the virtues of sacrifice, compassion, and collective responsibility toward national development.
Oluyede expressed deep appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his steadfast support, focused leadership, and strategic direction. He also extended gratitude to the Nigerian public for their enduring faith in the Nigerian Army and their continued support.
“We look forward to stronger collaboration with all Nigerians to eliminate every form of insecurity and create a safe environment for economic growth, stability, and national prosperity,” he concluded.
