Lagos Enrolls 130,000 Vulnerable Households for FG’s N75,000 Cash Support

In a strategic move to cushion the effects of recent economic reforms, the Lagos State Government has enrolled 130,000 households into the Federal Government’s N75,000 conditional cash transfer programme.

The programme, which targets Nigeria’s most vulnerable citizens, is part of a national relief initiative to ease the economic strain caused by fuel subsidy removal, exchange rate unification, and broader fiscal adjustments.

Addressing journalists on Tuesday at the Alausa Secretariat in Ikeja, Lagos State Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Ope George, announced the successful integration of the households into the Lagos State Single Social Register. The register, a subset of the National Social Register, now includes updated National Identification Numbers (NINs) for all enlisted households.

“The integration of NINs and geolocations into the register is a core requirement from the Presidential Panel coordinating the relief initiative,” George said. “It ensures transparency, eliminates duplication, and helps streamline the disbursement of the N75,000 cash support to the right beneficiaries.”

George revealed that the enrollment exercise, which kicked off on April 9, 2025, covered all 57 Local Government Areas (LGAs) and Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) across the state.

Significant progress has been made in several key locations. Ikorodu tops the list with 16,418 households enrolled, followed by Alimosho with 14,964 and Mushin with 10,712.

The commissioner praised the efforts of the Lagos State Operations Coordinating Unit and Community-Based Targeting Teams for their efficiency in executing the assignment, adding that their speed and accuracy were instrumental in meeting the federal deadlines.

“This initiative is about providing direct, impactful relief to households that need it the most,” George noted. “Our goal is to ensure that no eligible Lagosian is left behind.”

He further assured residents that the government would continue expanding and updating the register to include more households, allowing them to benefit from both state and federal interventions.
