All six people onboard a private jet that crash-landed in a California neighbourhood during dense fog have been confirmed dead, authorities say. The Cessna 550 Citation struck a power line before crashing into a residential area of San Diego at 3:47 am local time on Thursday, according to the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB).
NTSB investigator Dan Baker told reporters on Friday that all passengers and the pilot were killed, though no serious injuries were reported on the ground.
The aircraft, registered to music agent Dave Shapiro, was carrying six individuals, according to the US Federal Aviation Administration. The San Diego County medical examiner identified three of the victims as Shapiro, 42, Emma Huke, 25, and Celina Kenyon, 36.
Shapiro, a well-known music agent, co-founded Sound Talent Group, which represents artists such as Sum 41 and Vanessa Carlton. The agency confirmed that Huke and Kendall Fortner, both booking assistants at the company, also died in the crash.
“We are devastated by the loss of our co-founder, colleagues and friends. Our hearts go out to their families and everyone affected,” Sound Talent Group said in a statement.
Kenyon was a professional photographer and mother. Her father, Bryan Charles Feldman, told NBC7 that she chose to fly home early with friends after a photo shoot so she could take her daughter to school the next day.
NBC7 also identified the remaining victims as Dominic Damian, a software engineer, and Daniel Williams, former drummer for the metalcore band The Devil Wears Prada.
Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the crash.
