APC chieftain and former NRM gubernatorial candidate, Dr. Dennis Osahon Aikoriogie, has appealed to Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, to fulfill promises made to key stakeholders who played vital roles in securing the party’s electoral victory.
Dr. Aikoriogie revealed that he stepped down from his NRM candidacy to support Okpebholo, collapsed his political structure, and delivered strong grassroots mobilization—including winning his polling unit and garnering multi-ethnic endorsements. He further set up a situation room, mobilized INEC observers to monitor the election, and submitted a favorable report in support of APC’s success.
In the spirit of unity, he also refrained from taking legal action over documented INEC irregularities during the election.
However, six months after the polls, Dr. Aikoriogie expressed disappointment over the governor’s continued silence, particularly concerning assurances of political inclusion—most notably the Egor/Ikpoba Okha House of Representatives seat.
He called on Governor Okpebholo to stay true to his word and reward those whose loyalty and sacrifices were instrumental in the party’s victory, warning that sidelining core supporters undermines trust and commitment within the party.
